My 85 year old friend, Frank, and I went to New Lexington Reservoir in Ohio to panfish. We were fishing for crappie and bluegill and caught a few.
We used worms and minnows and I jig fished for crappies for awhile.
This is about the only time I don’t fish for bass is when I fish with him but it’s nice to sit and talk and we had a great time.

My son-in-law, Joe, My grandsons, Eman and Justin and I all went fishing last night at Buckeye Lake. There was a light breeze and quite a few boats.
We decided to fish with chicken liver and nightcrawlers. This is the first time I had fish for anything except bass all year. We got at the lake around 6:30 and started off fishing the South shore of Leib’s Island.
I got the first bite but Joe got the first fish, a little mud cat as I call them. My grandson Eman (Emmanuel), caught a striper that was about 3 1/2 pounds. Then he caught a nice catfish that went about 6 pounds. After that he was hard to be around for awhile as we had to hear what a great fisherman he was. LOL
When it got darker and because none of us great fisherman remembered to bring a light or lantern we moved to the North shore of the island where there was light. We fished for about an hour there and Joe finally got a bite.
The fish knocked over his can of pop that he calls his alarm and the fight was on. He first got tangled in my line, then he ran Eman and I from the shore and chased this fish down the bank for about 30 yards. I just knew it was going to be a monster. He finally got it in and it was a nice catfish of about 7 or 8 pounds but certainly not one to chase everybody off the bank….great drama Joe! LOL
We fished for another hour and talked and had a great time then decided to leave about midnight. It was a good time for all and all the fish were caught on chicken liver.
